I know this post is a year after the last one was written (talk about threadcromancery), but I used to run a TS server for a game guild.
I was reading earlier in the thread that there was some trouble with TS being hacked. While keeping software up to date is an important part of the security process, I never had trouble with hackers.
There is some administrative post setup material you got to handle and set new passwords, or anyone can just login and use them. I think it listens on port 1453 (or some such) that you connect to with your web browser after installing TS for unix (sadly, your TS server will run fine without ever making use of this post configuration tool, leaving a false sense of finality!). I don't know if you were hosting with windows or w/e, or how that works, but yeah make sure to read the post setup documentation carefully and don't leave any default administrative logins lying around...
